Match my Ride Messenger Style bags to match your stash!

Finally we have the final design in place. This bag has been in my head for a couple of years, in the talks for close to a year and in paper drafts for a few months, but finally we have done the final prototype and are ready to start producing them!

The idea behind this design is that you can buy one bag and have limitless options to match all your carriers. For me it has always bug me to have a pretty diaper bag and a pretty carrier that have two different prints on at the same time.

Some times is nice to be matching :)

Ok, so the bag comes with what I'm calling flaps for right now. They are interchangeable and when you buy one bag you get one flap with two prints or two fabrics of your choice. You can also buy extra flaps to match other carriers and the bag! So you will be able to interchange them and use with different carriers and still be matching :). The bag has a webbing strap that can be used to thread as a backpack or just a messenger bag.

I will soon post the wide shoulder strap or padded strap you can purchase as an additional option to your bag.

Wait! right now I'm open to the idea of a co op! I will offer discount from 15-30%, I have posted on facebook and if you are interested please email me.

Here it is!

Fresh out of the oven. Our new Strap cover-Suck pads-Drool pads. Whatever you call it.

They have a rounded edge on one side, this is to cover a bit of the body of your carrier, so that if any drool travels down the pad it should fall on this continuous piece.

On these pictures you can see the hoot fabric on one side, the reverse side is made of natural 100% organic cotton terry.

We will be making them with your choice of solid or printed fabrics and the terry on the other side.

A big Thanks to Lorene from www.Frogmama.com for the idea, she wanted something like a mommy cloth pad. It has been about a year and many samples for us to get the idea right. I hope these will work great for everyone :).

And for the fun part. Who is taking one set of them home?

AngelPack Organic Nursing Covers! Celebraring World Breastfeeding week.

Why do we make nursing covers?

As an advocate breastfeeding mom I love nursing my babies, I love the bonding and the goos and coos at my breast. I have been breastfeeding non stop for the past 7 years and as a first time mom I had no problem pulling my blouse up (or down) any where in the world to breastfeed my babies. But I did realise how unhappy this made my husband (who didn't want others seeing my breasts) as well as many family members.
Why I remark this? Because I know there is a bit of a debate on the covers and I want to make sure I let it be said that I have no problem with nursing in public, I think is the most natural thing, is a beautiful thing and my heart pounds when I see a nursing mom or a picture of a nursing baby.

I also have come to realise that not only are there people who are uncomfortable with this (who cares!), but that there are sick people out there who are looking at a breastfeeding baby in an obscene way, the thought of picking at a nipple is just too tempting for them and this is where things get touchy for me.

As a mother of four children who have breastfed exclusively until self wined, well not the babies, not yet, I find it very necessary to be able to nurse any where.

As a Christian women who grows in faith and modesty, searching to be a fragrant flower in God's eyes, I find it important to have a nursing cover.

I like to keep the attention on my face not my breasts! And for this reason I thought it would be nice to have a nursing cover that not only helps keeping a private environment, but that goes with the baby carrier in my diaper bag.

Our Nursing covers have a simple trim of the printed fabric on the bottom of the cover so that is not too overwhelming when used with an AngelPack. They are made with Organic breathable cotton of the highest quality.

Our AngelPack Story.

In November 2003 I had my new baby girl, there I was, a new mother, one little piece of me who meant the world to me. I wanted to protect her, love her and give her all of my best. I wanted to be home with her, despite my plans to run to college and work at the same time. So I stayed home and thought of ways to help sustain our little family, we lived in Miami with a big mortgage, car payments and one income. Through that daddy worked very hard putting in two jobs and sometimes three to support us.

At that time I decided to make cloth diapers and maybe sell them on eBay. I had sewn before so maybe this was a good fit, I try making our diapers and that wasn’t pretty, but I did make our slings and a mei tai that cough the attention of my friends and the shop keeper at my favorite fabric shop. She was the one to point out to me that I should make that thing to sell, she was in owe. And so I did, I made some for my neighbors who would walk with us (My baby and I) at the park while we were all trying to lose the baby weight. I had my baby strapped on me all the time.

At our dining room I started to sew, I bought about $20 of twill fabric and made my first mei tai, it sold on ebay for $40 and I still had fabric for more. Every single mei tai I listed sold and within a couple of months I was making tens of mei tais a week from our dining room table. I usually had my girl strapped to my back while we made them, daddy would often help ironing the straps when he came home from work. We were very blessed indeed.

At the end of 2004 when our daughter was one, we decided to move out of crazy busy Miami, we sold our house in Miami and move to Lakeland, we picked Lakeland because it’s close to Orlando and Tampa and my husband thought it would be good when looking for work. We have been living here for the past 6 years. At this house I had a room with my sewing machines and cutting table, it was my little studio, but after my baby boy was born I quickly found myself with too much work and not so much of the quality time I wanted to give my children, at times I had to close down my web store to make sure I wouldn’t be too busy. I stayed up late at night (mornings) so that I could finish orders in time. Then I decided it was time to hire someone to do this work for us, so I tried and tried many places locally and couldn’t find a place with the quality I was giving my customers.

At the beginning of 2007 we decided to try to set up a shop in the Dominican Republic, that summer I traveled alone with my two children, Angie was 3, Gabriel was 1. I stayed at my mom’s place and it was such a blessing to have her support. This summer I realize how little I know about the crisis in my country, I was counting on finding a few seamstresses and I did, but once again, but none knew how to operate an industrial sewing machine or keep a straight line. Not the quality we were accustomed to.

So while I searched for someone I set up a shop, only to find out how there were more hours in the day without electricity than with electricity. I could do nothing! I remember how terribly hot this summer was, I had to walk from moms house to the shop every day two or three time a day, with the children, one on my back and the other one by my side. We were walking miles each day!

This went on for a good portion of this summer when finally the person who sold me the sewing machines informed me that he could do the job for me, it was a big weight lifted off my shoulders, I had orders waiting to be shipped for nearly two months. When he first saw me make one, he got it right away and made just perfect, better than me. I was glad to hand over my job. He set up a small shop specifically to work with our AngelPacks at home.

I made it back home, FINALLY! This was a beautiful chapter and for the next three years we were able to get AngelPacks made right there from my home town, my mom worked with us inspecting and doing shipping, my uncle drove the packages from our tiny town to the big city to a UPS office.

In 2010 we decided to set up our own shop when we were informed that our seamstress was moving to N.Y. and so we did, this summer we set up our own shop, with a large sewing room, a large cutting table and a beautiful (to me) stock room. This time my husband was with us which was such a blessing, now I had 3 children and a big pregnant belly, so his help was greatly needed, we stayed there over three months (again) but when we left we left everything in place. The main person working for us now is the same seamstress that used to work at the old shop, now we have more help too and UPS picks up packages at our own door! Yep they take the drive to little town for us.

It hasn’t been easy, some times more tiring than others, but it has been a blessing to have this opportunity to go around the world with our product and to help parents around bond with their little ones, to make their days easier because they can put a baby on their backs (or front) and keep going with their day without missing out on that time of closeness with baby.

We feel very blessed with our family, now a not so little one, and with our job, this year my husband has joint front with me and is staying home with us, we home school our children and with four little ones is a great thing to have the help. Our family thrives on AngelPack and the blessing of the Lord who has guided us until this day. We believe our children are a blessing and are so glad to be able to spend our days learning with them and guiding them.

It's the most fun time!!! (edited to remove some fabrics that I outgrew)

Ready to pick up fabric for the new collection of AngelPack Baby Carriers, I love picking out fabrics but some times it's a dificult thing to do. I'm trying to decide on 5 diffent prints.
This first one is my very favorite and I might call it "Angie" because it reminds me so much of my daughter. The rest I'm very undecisive about so I'll have to think some more before I pick any of them, the thing I like the most about them is that most of them are made in a really nice heavier fabric whic feels and looks better in person, not that my Ginger Breeze 100% cotton isn't of the best cuality out there, but it's a lighter weight fabric.

I've been fricking out over all the things I need to take and buy, sewing machines were one big thing and scary! the shipping alone was the cost of one sewing machine... Anyways, I had a nice time praying the other night, and the next day, my friend and partner on setting the shop up, called me to let me know about a person back in our comunity that has the sewing machines from a factory he closed a couple of years back and was willing to sell them, (as a teenage I got to baby sit his daughters)well long story short, I'll get two sewing machine and a serger for what it would have cost me to buy only two machines here before the shipping.
On another note, I had asked my friend to talk to my cousin's husband to see if he does cutting work, he has worked in factories all of his life, she got back to me letting me know that my cousing had taken some classes on industrial cutting and she can do the work, now how amazing is that?! My cousing "Gladis" used to let me pet her sewing machine when I was a teen.

I'm totally happy and so sure that God it's working to make this project come true. I love you Lord! you are amazing.

AngelPack is moving to Dominican Republic!!!

I'm so happy! this vacation-work away from home time is turning into my long time dream becoming true.
As a little girl I remember designing and making dresses for my Barbie, always wishing and dreaming of having my own sewing machine, I remember I use to pet my -adoptive-dad's sewing machines, he is a custom tailor and I spent countless hours in his shop :lol:

Going back and doing this means so much to me, spiritually it makes me feel that I'm accomplishing something, that I'm doing what feels right, my goal is to bring my community a source of work-income, normally people in "Sabana Iglesia" have to travel an hour to their work place, and the paying is very poor.

My heart always keeps going back to them and thinking how I want to set up a sewing shop there, and now I'm working on this very thing, God is wonderful! my AngelPack baby is going to help me find my dream and help some families back home.

I'm taking this slow, one step at the time, but with my faith in God that everything is going to blossom and we will grow into a successful sewing house-company-name brand.

I will be updating in the forums as the project becomes true!
